We recently returned from a trip to
Wallowa Lake in Oregon. Easily some of the most beautiful country I've seen in between La Grande and Joseph. If you've never been it's worth a look at least once in your lifetime. This is a shot of the mountains just west of Wallowa Lake, taken from the Royal Purple viewpoint (if you take the tramway up to the summit).
There was plenty to keep us busy for the four days we were there; hiking, tram ride, miniature golf, horseback riding, wildlife viewing, and lots of critters running around for the kids to enjoy.
These deer were so tame it was ridiculous. The kids loved it though, next to the horseback riding I think this was the coolest thing they will remember doing there.
If you go you'll definitely want to stop by the
Terminal Gravity Brewing and Public House in Enterprise. Their beef from the local
6 Ranch is better then anything I've ever tasted, but I wouldn't expect anything less from grass fed and free range cattle...and their beer is very refreshing, don't forget to take some home with you, as it isn't easy to find.
Give the Wallowa area a look...you won't be disappointed.
