Reloading supplies as well as factory ammo has been seriously scarce this winter. Actually since the president got re-elected. Gotta love it when a democrat gets into office and everyone starts worrying about firearms. It's made things tough for sure, and I've had to ration my supply. I managed to find and stock up on some bullets, and hopefully have some primers coming my way, but powder is a whole different story. We're talking a hazardous material fee added on to a month behind back order. Finding .22lr shells is non-existent too which my second oldest daughter really likes to shoot. I minimized my break in on my rifle to what I thought would do the job without wasting too many resources. It didn't take long, even with the dummy loads I made to get shooting where I wanted it. I worked up a few loads for hunting too and managed to get sub-moa with no problem. I love these savage rifles. I have a little more ballistic work to do to get it right where I want it, which I'm hopping to accomplish this week if the wind will die down.
Bridget wanted to try shooting the rifle Taylor was using so she gave it a try, but after one shot she decided that was too much for her.
I also loaded up 20 rounds for Taylor to shoot as well. She hadn't shot since she got her mule deer back in November, check the archive for a couple posts I did on her hunt.
Her last five shots she decided she wanted to shoot for the steel out at 500 yards. She managed to hit it two out of five times which I thought was pretty good considering she hadn't shot for a while. Hitting those long range shots really boosts your confidence.
Bear season is here, and Taylor and I both went and got our tags last weekend. So as soon as I am happy with their accuracy we'll be heading up into the mountains to try and locate one.
